Taiwanese pianist Amber Chen is currently the piano faculty in Lone Star College-University Park. Dr. Chen debuted her solo piano recital at the age of 6 in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. Chen has also given performances in Japan, China and the United States. Prize winner of the Amadeus Piano Competition, the National Prague Piano Competition, and the Seidof Piano Competition in Taiwan, Chen has been invited to perform in Kagawa Concert Hall (Japan), Shenzhen Arts Hall (China), Field Concert Hall (USA), Rock Hall (USA), the Miami Music Festival, New Taipei City Concert Hall, Taoyuan Concert Hall, Jungli Arts Hall (Taiwan), and other venues. In addition, Chen performed in many master classes and received coaching from Gustavo Romero, Ching- Yun Hu, Edith Zvi,Veda Kaplinsky, Anton Nel, Ching- Yun Hu, Marina Lamazov, Jerome Lowenthal, William Heilies, Adam Wodnicki, Alexandre Moutouzkine, Solomon Mikowsky, Aquinas Delle Vigne and Bernd Zack. As an active chamber musician, she toured with her piano trio in Taiwan and Japan in 2010. Chen is also an active teacher, with students from Taiwan to the USA and is active in studying piano pedagogical methods to match the needs of different students. Prior to working at Lone Star College-University Park, Chen taught private studio piano lessons of undergraduate students in University of North Texas and was also on the piano faculty of Lakewood Conservatory of Fine Arts, Park Cities School of Music and Prime Music Institute. She was selected to become a member of Alpha Alpha Chapter of the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society because of her top academic achievements as a doctoral piano student at the University of North Texas.

TEACHING METHOD
My core concept of piano teaching is to let students love music, understand what they are playing on the keyboard
With individual-tailored lessons designed by Dr. Chen, students who studying in Dr. Chen's piano studio will learn the following principal abilities:
1. Position the hands and fingers with proper gestures on keyboard in the first lesson
2. Learning how to read the music scores, grand staff, rhythm patterns and all the music signs.
3. Learning the music theory knowledge required by the music piece.
4. The cultural and historical knowledge about composer and music.
5. Performing piano as amateur or professional
Piano homeworks to practice is definitely assigned in every lesson
What Dr. Chen offers in her piano studio?
1. Doctor/ Pianist level teaching with pedagogical method
2. Students have at least two times of stage performance opportunities annually in her students' spring/ fall semester recitals
3.ABRSM and ARSM exam preparation.
4.School Talent Show preparation.
5.Instruction to prepare audition for university music department, music camp/ festival, master class, and competition.
6. Abundant music resources and academic aids.
7. Sight-reading training

Tuition and Policy
30 mins single lesson $40
30 mins weekly ( 4 lessons session ) $140
45 mins single lesson $60
45 mins weekly (4 lessons session) $220

*If students inquires to have lessons at their own house, there will be a transportation fee applied depending on the location. Approx $5-8 a travel lesson.
Tuition Policy
Tuition is invoiced on the last lesson day of each session, with tuition due by the first lesson of new session.
Payments can be made with Zelle and cash.
Recital registration fees will be added to the next session invoice.

Piano Studio Policy
Keyboard is Required
Consistent practice is required before each lesson.
Scheduling Policy
The studio is typically closed on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, during the week of Thanksgiving, and for a two-week break over Christmas and New Year's.
If a student’s schedule changes and they can no longer keep their regularly scheduled time, please contact me immediately to request a permanent change in lesson times. (Short term changes to lesson times to accommodate sports or other seasonal activities are usually not available.)
Cancellation and Reschedule Policy
If a student is late for a lesson, they will only be taught for their remaining lesson time.
There are no refunds if you miss or cancel a lesson. Please let me know as soon as possible if a lesson must be cancelled for any reason.
If a lesson needs to be canceled or rescheduled, it requires to be made 24 hours prior to a scheduled lesson. If you do not cancel/reschedule prior to the 24 hours, you will lose the payment for the class, and no makeup class credit provided.
